WELCOME

Wow! Welcome back from a five-day break! Hopefully, you had a great time with friends and family!

We have a four-day week to work hard! We are close to MAP testing! Let’s get ready to do great things at PBJHS!

PBJHS CAMPUS DAMAGES

We have a small number of students who are not taking pride in the facilities we have at JH.  Especially the new restrooms.  We have damage to dividers, to soap dispensers, to towel dispensers, and graffiti on some walls.  It is a shame to see a handful of students ruining a beautiful facility for the rest of us! This is what self-managing is all about...students can help stop destruction, students have to be a part of stopping bullying, and other unwanted behaviors...THIS IS YOUR SCHOOL!  TAKE PRIDE IN IT!

7TH GRADE REGISTRATION FOR 8TH GRADE

All 7th graders will be registering for 8th grade classes this Tuesday (April 18th) in their English Class.  Students will get to choose two electives for next year.  We’ve added some new elective choices, so make sure you check out what there is.  Mrs. Warren has placed it on Schoology for you to look at or you can click this link to see: https://goo.gl/yLBAhR

EARTH DAY

8th grade students will be attending our annual Earth Day event at Lake Wappapello on Tuesday, April 18th! This is a great event to attend!  I expect you to be on your best behavior representing PBJHS very well! This is a rain or shine event.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

PBJHS will hosting a great event on Friday, April 21st!  SPECIAL OLYMPICS will be held that day!  We have several students competing along with many attending schools!  What a great day for all!

MID-TERM GRADES

In general, midterm is done 4/21; grades will be completed and turned into Mrs. Pulliam by 4/25 at 8:00 a.m. Last midterm of the year!!! (Grades will go home on 4/26)

CAPTURING KIDS’ HEARTS

Wow! What an honor! We are a National Showcase School! Great job kiddos!  Keep up the great work!

CELL PHONE REMINDER

Cell phones are to be on silent or off and put away at all times unless you have teacher permission (per the handbook); This includes in the hallway, bathrooms and the cafeteria.  Cell phones will be taken and put in the office for a parent to pick-up if they are seen being used without permission from a teacher.

ASSEMBLY

Mrs Nicolini and Mrs. Moncier will be doing a Washington DC presentation for 7th graders on Thursday, April 20th during 7th grade academic labs for the 2018 DC trip.. Teachers can can have a long lunch hour that day. The students will just need to be brought to the gym by their academic lab teachers.

ACADEMIC LABS

Academic lab time is a time for students to work on homework and get help from teachers.  It is not a time to roam the halls, hang out in the bathroom or head down to a different lunch hour. Students are expected to remain in class during this time.  If students need to leave the class for any reason, a hall pass should be used or a teacher pass issued by the teacher.

EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH

Educational Talent Search students who are planning to go on one of the Spring field trips; You must turn in your permission slips to the counselors ASAP or you will not be allowed to go.  It is your responsibility to turn in your permission slip!

CLOTHING CHOICES

Please check short length, shirt coverage, and any other possible clothing issue (like holes in your pant legs) prior to coming to school.  We have had to have students change already!  Dress appropriately for school!

PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION (PDA)

With spring in the air it seems like love is too! However, there is a time and place for all things, and school is not the time or place for any public displays of affection (PDA).  This includes girls holding hands with their friends and hugging each other as well. Please keep this in check!

MORNING RESTROOM AND/OR VENDING MACHINE USE

For your safety and knowing your location for supervision, the gym lobby restroom is available to use before school.  Also, the vending machine in the lobby is for your use prior to dismissal from the gym.  All other bathrooms and vending machines in the building are off limits prior to dismissal from the gym.

CARDINAL GAME FOR THE FUNDRAISER

Those of you who qualified for the trip to the Cardinal game later this spring will be glad to know the date is set!  We will watch the Cardinals play the Blue Jays on Thursday, April 27th.  Game time is 12:45.  We will leave PBJHS at approximately 8:00 a.m.
