Poplar Bluff Junior High School

October 9-13, 2017

WELCOME

Welcome back! I hope you all had a great weekend!  This week our girls basketball team will start their season!

Congratulations

A big congratulations to our 8th grade football team who completed two undefeated seasons!  Good job! We are proud of you.

Second Chance Breakfast

Second chance breakfast is going well, but we need to get through the lines a little faster!

End of the Quarter

The quarter will end on October 13.  Make sure all work is completed and turned in on time.

Chromebooks

The irresponsibility we are seeing with Chromebooks is unacceptable.  They are to be carried with you by the strap.  I don’t want to see them in floors or used to hit each other with. Intentional damages will be billed to you!  Take care of these if you want to continue to use them.

STUCO

Dues for STUCO are due on Friday the 13th $30 if attending convention and $20 if not.

Bright Futures Food Drive

Bright Futures will be sponsoring school-wide food drive for the Mule Packs. For the month of October, Jr High has been asked to collect Canned Meats (tuna, chicken, potted meat, Spam).

The homeroom that collects the most will receive a doughnut party.  The dates for collection will be Oct. 16-30th, with the party being on the 31st, Halloween.

Wrestling Meeting

There will be a wrestling meeting at 7:15 in the lower gym on Tuesday for anyone who is interested in wrestling this year for the junior high team.

School Store

Our school store is opening this week.  The winner of the name is “The Mule Shack”.  We will send out information about everything we have for you in the store this week!

Hallway Behavior

Hallway behavior is entirely too loud!  We should not hear screaming or see running and groups stopping to talk in the middle of the halls.  Keep your hands to yourself! We will begin to handout hallway tickets this quarter.  If you receive three, you will get a detention.  If you receive 5, you will receive a Saturday School.  You’re old enough to control this and I expect you to do that.

Tutoring
Tutoring is available everyday after school in Mrs. Wilson’s room and before school in Mrs. Dell’s room..  Students who have two or more F’s at mid-terms will be in mandatory tutoring. I have spoken with each of you who are on the list.  I expect you to be there each week!

Challenge to you

Your new challenge:  8th grade, if you have less than 110 referrals by the end of the quarter, you may get your cell phones out at lunch.  7th grade, if you have less than 156 referrals by the end of the quarter, you will earn phones during lunch.  Right now, 7th has 147 and 8th has 109..

Bullying Awareness Month in October

October is Bullying Awareness month and we have a few activities planned.  We would like each academic lab to decorate a door, or a bulletin board, hallway or posters. I’ll provide posters if you let me know how many you’d like.  It would be fun to incorporate a Halloween theme since it’s October.  Tell your teacher your ideas!

School Store

Our school store is opening this week.  The winner of the name is “The Mule Shack”.  We will send out information about everything we have for you in the store this week!

Student E-mail

All student email is monitored. If you use it for reasons other than school or we find anything inappropriate, you will lose access to your Google account.

CKH Focus

This week I’d like students to focus on following the social contract in your classrooms.
