Poplar Bluff Junior High School
September 18-22, 2017
WELCOME
I hope you all enjoyed a nice weekend! This week Fun Friday themes will include some prizes!
Lunch
Students, please make sure you are keeping your table clean and your trash picked up in the cafeteria. Remember to use the stairs to your left as you exit the lunchroom. Our outdoor area is awesome! The rules out there are simple: don’t leave food on the ground, don’t twirl the umbrellas, only 4-5 to a table and ENJOY the sunshine and outdoors! I hope you guys love that area as much as I do
Second Chance Breakfast
This week we will start the 2nd Chance Breakfast. The cafeteria will have a cart set up after first hour on the main floor and students can come by, type in their pin, and grab a breakfast bag to go on your way to class. This will charge your account, so be aware of this.
Cleaning Supply Drive to help Houston
Thank you all so much for bringing in items to help our friends in Houston! The last count I had, was that you all brought in almost 1,000 items! That is unbelievable!! Thank you so much!
ICU-
Our ICU program is up and going! This program is not intended to be a “punishment”. It’s an extra support designed to help students complete their work and learn the material. Put forth your best efforts and complete your work on time!
Club Day- Club Day will be this Friday (September 22).
Tutoring- Tutoring is available everyday after school in Mrs. Wilson’s room. Students who have two or more F’s at mid-terms will be in mandatory tutoring.
Challenge to You
Remember Mr. Dowd and I gave you a challenge the first week of school. If your grade level has less than 50 office referrals at mid-term, we would let you have your phones out at lunch. 7th grade has already lost that challenge (they have 69 as of today). 8th grade, you are at 45. If you can stay under 5 more referrals until September 26, you all can have phones out at lunch.
Cell Phone Reminder
Any student who uses their cell phone to video a fight, or any other inappropriate actions or uses it to bully other students at school via social media will be suspended. We have zero tolerance on bullying.
Fundraiser
You all did a GREAT job on the fundraiser! I’ll have totals for you soon:)
Bullying Awareness Month in October
October is Bullying Awareness month and we have a few activities planned. We would like each academic lab to decorate a door, or a bulletin board, hallway or posters. I’ll provide posters if you let me know how many you’d like. It would be fun to incorporate a Halloween theme since it’s October. Tell your teacher your ideas!
