Leadership

Ms. Candace Warren, Principal

Candace WarrenOn behalf of the faculty and staff, I want to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2022-2023 academic school year at Poplar Bluff Junior High School! Our school serves approximately 800, 7th and 8th grade students. Education is about students and that has to be our number one focus.  Every decision made will be with the mindset of  “What is best for students”.  It takes supportive parents and dedicated teachers and administrators going the extra mile to ensure that the educational needs of our children at PBJHS are met. I am looking forward to seeing teachers and parents working as a team to bring success to all of our Poplar Bluff Junior High students.

My personal goal is to have a school where parents and students are beating down the doors to get in instead of getting out.  With that being said, we are a Capturing Kids’ Heart school.  This means that our focus is on building positive relationships with our students. Our goals are to create positive, safe environments for students and staff while focusing on and emphasizing student achievement. I think school should be a fun place that our students wake up each day wanting to attend.  We are very proud to be a Power of ICU school, where every student completes every assignment, every day.  We take pride in our focus on community and serving others through our house system.  The ultimate goal is to create a well-rounded, successful student.

As a mother of three boys, I know how important communication between school and home is. Communication is vital and is one of my top priorities.  Please use our Facebook page, Twitter and/or school website to stay informed.  I will also be emailing out monthly newsletters with all of our PBJHS happenings and we will use School Messenger at times for school wide announcements.

I want to make a personal commitment that we, at Poplar Bluff Junior High, will work together to bring forth the highest quality education possible for all students.  I am excited about being the principal at PBJHS and working with staff, students and parents in the 2022-2023 academic school year. If you ever have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me. My door is always open!

Let’s have a great year!
