Poplar Bluff Junior High School
October 16-20, 2017
WELCOME
Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. It’s finally starting to feel like fall in the heartland!
Student ID’s
This week students will receive their new student ID’s. I’m requiring it to be scanned for use during second chance breakfast, lunch and possibly the library. If you do not have your ID on, you will have to go to the end of the line and wait for everyone else to go through. These will also be used to get into school dances from now on. They must be worn at school all day.
Behaviors
We want this school to be a happy place where students enjoy coming every day. That is my personal goal as the principal. We are seeing some behaviors that are not lining up with that goal. Be nice to each other, treat each other with respect. If a teacher asks you your name, you give it. We are being very intentional as administrators about this. Students who choose not to follow the rules, are receiving consequences. Make good choices.
Chromebooks
The irresponsibility we are seeing with Chromebooks is unacceptable. They are to be carried with you by the strap. I don’t want to see them in floors or used to hit each other with. Intentional damages will be billed to you! Take care of these if you want to continue to use them.
Bright Futures Food Drive
Bright Futures will be sponsoring school-wide food drive for the Mule Packs. For the month of October, Jr High has been ask to collect Canned Meats (tuna, chicken, potted meat, Spam).
The homeroom that collects the most will receive a doughnut party. The dates for collection will be Oct. 16-30th, with the party being on the 31st, Halloween.
School Store
Our school store opened Friday and was a huge success! We have posted all the items they will be selling in Google Classroom. The store will be open on Fridays during lunch. Please help us support this
Hallway
Hallway behavior is entirely too loud! We should not hear screaming or see running and groups stopping to talk in the middle of the halls. Keep your hands to yourself! We will begin to handout hallway tickets this quarter. If you receive three, you will get a detention. If you receive 5, you will receive a Saturday School. You’re old enough to control this and I expect you to do that.
Announcement from Mrs. Moncier
Team 4 Yankee Candle orders and money are due to Mrs Moncier by Friday, October 20.
DC Yankee Candle and Mixed Bag orders are due to Mrs Moncier by Friday, October 20.
Bullying Awareness Month in October
October is Bullying Awareness month and we have a few activities planned. We would like each academic lab to decorate a door, or a bulletin board, hallway or posters. I’ll provide posters if you let me know how many you’d like. It would be fun to incorporate a Halloween theme since it’s October. Tell your teacher your ideas!
Student E-mail
All student email is monitored. If you use it for reasons other than school or we find anything inappropriate, you will lose access to your Google account.
CKH Focus
This week I’d like students to focus on following the social contract in your classrooms and in the halls.
